German Youth Soccer Development Academy Training Overview

Train and Play for German Soccer Club

IFX's partner Fussball academy in Germany (JFL) is a residential football school, enabling players from the ages of 13-17 years old to focus on their development in the sport of football while continuing their secondary education at a local high school.

Players attend school each day until the early afternoon, and in the evenings, players train within their age group of the German club team affiliated with the residential academy.

Football Academy teams are made up of German soccer players recruited throughout the state of Thüringen as well as some players coming from different parts of Germany. IFX is the exclusive North American soccer agency of the German Academy, recruiting players from North America as well as from other regions throughout the world for JFL.

    German Soccer Team Training Schedule

Each weekday evening, after players have returned from their German high school, the German soccer teams conduct their training sessions at various times throughout the evening according to age group.

Once per week, in addition to the players' evening football training, the academy players attend mandatory swimming workouts that vary in nature depending upon the time of the season: Regeneration, stretching, stabilization, endurance, or purely having some fun. The fitness studio/weight room is also available at all times for use by players of U17 age group or older.

      2018 U17 Promotion to Regionalliga

In 2018, the JFL U17s were promoted into the highly competitive U17 Regionalliga, the 2nd highest youth German soccer league, just below youth Bundesliga. Many professional German clubs youth teams compete in this highly regarded league, having enabled  players on the U17 team during the 2018-19 season tremendous exposure throughout the season.

Other age groups compete at the highest statewide regional level called Verbandsliga, also a very competitive German soccer division enabling players excellent opportunities for development in German youth soccer.

German Trainingslager - Pre Season Soccer Training Camp

At the start of each pre-season JFL offers an optional, but highly recommended German Trainingslager, or soccer training camp, to its Academy players, in a new destination each year. It is typically a 5 day trip to a pictureque destination such as a mountain lake somewhere in Germany or Austria, or to the North Sea, where the teams train heavily throughout each day, with all kinds of German soccer training exercises to build the team's fitness and conditioning, for team bonding, and of course to have fun! We strongly recommend this Trainingslager to all of our German Residential Academy players.
