Based in the beautiful Stuttgart region of northern Baden-Württemburg, Germany, SGV Freiberg is one of the strongest regional clubs with their semi-professional men's team competing in the 4th division statewide Oberliga. Their youth teams also compete in the top regional leagues, which are the second highest level of youth soccer in all of Germany.

SGV Freiberg encompasses every aspect of a true European sports club, with professional facilities including a 4,000 person capacity stadium, two grass practice pitches, and extensive club facilities offering multiple sporting activities. In September 2005, they established with the support of the Deutscher Fussball Bund (German Soccer Federation) and the Ministerium für Kultus, Jugend und Sport Baden-Württemberg (Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport) the first
of its kind Fussball Ausbildungs Centrum (Soccer Training Center) in Freiberg am Neckar . This year long program facilitates the development of a selected number of German youth to provide them with intensive daily soccer training to prepare them for professional playing careers. In conjunction with a local German high school, the "Fussballschule" (soccer school) provides daily morning soccer training for these elite players then normal daily schooling. After school, the players train amongst the SGV Freiberg youth squads.
