Based
in the beautiful Stuttgart region of northern Baden-Württemburg,
Germany, SGV Freiberg is one of the strongest regional clubs with
their semi-professional men's team competing in the 4th division statewide
Oberliga. Their youth teams also compete in the top regional leagues,
which are the second highest level of youth soccer in all of Germany.
SGV Freiberg encompasses every aspect of a true European sports club,
with professional facilities including a 4,000 person capacity stadium,
two grass practice pitches, and extensive club facilities offering
multiple sporting activities. In September 2005, they established
with the support of the Deutscher Fussball Bund (German Soccer Federation)
and the Ministerium für Kultus, Jugend und Sport Baden-Württemberg
(Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport) the first of
its kind Fussball Ausbildungs Centrum (Soccer
Training Center) in
Freiberg am Neckar . This year long program facilitates the development
of a selected number of German youth to provide them with intensive
daily soccer training to prepare them for professional playing careers.
In conjunction with a local German high school, the "Fussballschule"
(soccer school) provides daily morning soccer training for these elite
players then normal daily schooling. After school, the players train
amongst the SGV Freiberg youth squads.
