3.Liga relegated clubs meet in Regensburg

SSV Jahn Regensburg played host to SpVgg Unterhaching during the 20th match-day fixture in the Regionalliga Bayern. The final score would end in favor of the home side as they managed to secure a critical 2-1 victory over fellow promotional ambitious club Unterhaching in front of 4,000 fans. The stadium moderator began the night by delivering a powerful quote from the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. alongside a moment of silence, in remembrance of the deadly attacks in Paris,France that has claimed many civilian lives.

SSV Jahn raced out to an early 1-0 lead through Sven Kopp; only to have the visitors level 10 minutes later thru Alex Piller. The home side entered the evening looking to snap a 3 game losing skid that has seen them lose some points on the top of the table.

SSV Jahn Regensburg has its sights firmly set to win the league and enter into the promotional place for entry back into the 3.Liga. The recent streak of poor form would signal a change in managerial direction and would see the club part ways with its current manager Christian Brand (former Bundesliga profi with Werder Bremen, Hansa Rostock and VfL Wolfsburg). Brand will depart formally at the conclusion of the fall round of play and leave his post heading into the Winter break.

The clubs would remain level until the 69 minute when a scrappy play inside the box lead to an officially credited owl goal (although German-American Jahn George pushed the ball through the line and initially was credited with the game wining goal). SSV Jahn Regensburg climbed to the top of the table with the victory; Unterhaching meanwhile slipped back down to 4th place, 8 points behind SSV Jahn.
