Bavarian City Spotlight: Bamberg
FC Eintracht Bamberg 2010 is based out of the Bavarian city of Bamberg and was founded in 2006 after the successful union of 1. FC Bamberg and TSV Eintracht Bamberg. The club presently compete in the BayernLiga, the fifth tier of the German football pyramid.
The Franconian city is located 39 miles north of Nürnberg and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site; this in large part due to the authentic medieval appearance of the city. Popular sights include the Cathedral (including the tombs of emperor Henry II and Pope Clement II), the historic old town “alt stadt”, Altenburg Castle (dating back to 1109).
