Heading into the resumption of the 2019-20 season now coined the 2019-2021 season, the Bezirksliga runners up - SV Gutenstetten-Steinachgrund - have jumped on the opportunity to add, Pro IFX Year player, Lukas Huntington (18) to their roster. The team led by trainer Daniel Tarone, agreed on the signing of Huntington in order to reinforce the midfield. The native of Washington D.C. knows it won’t be an easy task to become a part of the starting eleven but his talent, work ethic, and optimism will serve invaluable towards this goal.

Adding to their roster young talented players with Junior Bundesliga experience, such us Tim Fierus (20), Yannick Zunder (21) and Felix Lobig (18), SVG Steinachgrund is definitely one of the most ambitious clubs in the area. The club is continuously facing friendly matches against top squads in the region. Some recent friendlies included matches against 1. FC Schweinfurt 05 from the Regionalliga Bayern and the local 2.Bundesliga club reserve squad, SpVgg Greuther Fürth II (which also competes in the IV Division of German Soccer). Coach Tarone has taken on the challenge of winning the Bezirksliga championship this season in order to promote into the Landesliga, and the club board vehemently supports this plan.

Fresh out of high school and researching different gap year programs, Lukas came accross IFX Soccer. “Everything I found about IFX seemed like an amazing opportunity to me." Lukas trains 4 or 5 times a week, surrounded by players from different nationalities but with the same love for the game. “Play at high intensity with a coach who had previous professional experience has a lot to give us and playing next to other motivated players made it such amazing experience so far," Huntington stated.

Lukas Huntington video interview:

While Lukas competes with his new German soccer team he will study at our partner University in Nürnberg alongside other IFX players as well as international students who pursue higher education in Germany. Germany is extremely well regarded by international students for opportunities in higher education and a high demand for professionals once they enter the labor market. Our partner University does not require German language proficiency as all classes are taught in English, but living in a foreign country always provides the benefit of learning the local language.
