Nürnberg, Germany. The pro German club 1.FC Nürnberg has signed Anja Burkman Flaig (18) to play for the 2017-18 season to their women’s reserve team. The signing came after a few weeks of soccer trials and dialogue between IFX Soccer and 1. FC Nürnberg ´s club management. The former Fire Soccer club´s goalie, despite having been accepted to a few colleges to play soccer in US, enrolled in Pro IFX Year Germany program to prove to herself what she could accomplish and showcase her abilities in a top European soccer league. Her signing with 1. FC Nürnberg is already a huge success after just a few weeks in Germany. 1.FC Nürnberg is a soccer club full of history and world-renowned.

Anja is working hard alongside her footballing responsibilities with 1. FCN, complementing her club training and game obligations with weekly training in the IFX Nürnberg Soccer Academy. In addition, throughout the season she will continue studying German at the IFX partner German Language Institute as part of IFX Pro Year Germany program.

1. FC Nürnberg, nine-time Bundesliga Champion, was founded on 4 May 1900 and registered its “golden era” in 1922 when the team would go unbeaten in 104 official matches. After this, they began to be referred to simply as “Der Club” in recognition of their skill and style on and off the field, and would go on to become one of the nation’s most widely recognized and popular teams. In recent history, they returned to the 1. Bundesliga until 2014 when they were relegated to the 2. Bundesliga. Since then 1. FC Nürnberg has performed strongly as a leader and narrowly missed promotion back to the Bundesliga.

As a passionate soccer player, Anja is more than happy for this once in a lifetime opportunity to improve her level of play and challenge herself each day alongside experienced German footballers. She is led by arguably the best goalkeeper trainers in the world, considering that Germany is likely the top country in the world for its production of talented goalkeepers.

From IFX Soccer we are so proud of Anja´s new step on her soccer career and we are happy to be part of it. We trust that her passion and talent will contribute greatly to her new German soccer club.
