Youth Year IFX Germany Academy - Bruno Aparicio
This week we from IFX would like to introduce one of our Youth Year IFX Germany Academy participants Bruno Aparicio. The Mexican-American soccer player choose Germany to develop his language and soccer skills further the Youth Year IFX Germany Academy program to get one step closer to his main goal - becoming a professional soccer player.
We had the chance to meet Bruno after his first half of the year and talk to him about this unique experience.
Overall he describes the experience so far as very educational and also different from what he had known about soccer and the details before coming to Germany. "I have seen a new standard of skill, that I had not seen back home. I have a steadier first touch and developed new soccer habits (e.g. looking over the shoulder before receiving a pass). Also I am playing at a much faster pace now and became more aggressive in my defending."

IFX Youth Year Germany - Elliott Swigert best player of "U17 Indoor Soccer Cup"
During the traditional winter break, Germany is famously known for having a variety of indoor soccer tournaments with teams competing in 'classical' german indoor soccer as well as futsal. It is a great way of getting to know the german soccer culture in general and improving the technical skills of a soccer player of each age group. Such tournaments are often used as showcase for outstanding technical players.
One of our current Youth Year Germany participants Elliot Swigert had the chance to compete with his team 1. FC Frankfurt (Oder) in the 'Indoor Soccer Cup Schwerin' where he managed not only to lift his team to the first place and winning the tournament - he was additionally awarded as the best player of this indoor tournament. Another great achviement Elliot can proudly add to his soccer vitae.
If you would like to play soccer in Germany yourself ......

SOCCER EXCHANGE: COMPETE WITH AN INTERNATIONAL SOCCER CLUB
The Youth Year IFX program, a soccer exchange program and the latest alternative to international soccer academies, soccer camps, and boarding soccer schools, gives high school soccer players the opportunity to compete within a foreign youth soccer club while studying abroad at a foreign high school and living with a host family.
Sebastian Mantello, above, a 16 year-old from Melbourne Australia, trained with Hamburger SV of the German Youth Bundesliga, during his Youth Year IFX experience with Bavarian powerhouse club, FC Schweinfurt 05 where he competed for the 2007-8 season.

With official partnerships with academic exchange institutions, the IFX soccer exchange program provides a unique opportunity for immersion into a foreign culture through soccer.
Most international soccer camps and soccer boarding schools train participating players in large groups amongst themselves, but our soccer exchange program enables players to:
- Participate in the normal training activities of the foreign soccer club
- Compete as fully registered players of the youth team according to their age subject to FIFA regulations and approval by National and State Soccer Federations
- Learn from licensed European soccer trainers
- Learn from other highly competitive European soccer players
This advantage of being the sole IFX participant on the foreign squad forces rapid technical development and enhances the players’ ability to learn and adapt to a foreign environment. Players also learn tremendous life skills in communication, foreign language, and take away a heightened sense of accomplishment.
The program is open to both high school age girls and boys, who have a good scholastic record, a strong interest and desire to excel in soccer, an interest in experiencing a foreign culture and language and are looking for an alternative to an international soccer academy.
The Youth Summer IFX, our Summer Soccer Camps alternative, also provides young American players with a unique two-week long summer program.
